Maintaining Smiles the Tooth Fairy Would Be Proud Of

At Marlow Valley Smiles, we love helping children feel confident at the dentist, keeping little smiles healthy, and the Tooth Fairy happy.

We’re a family-friendly private dental practice and love welcoming children of all ages. From the moment they walk in, we do everything possible to help them feel safe, calm, and comfortable. Our team takes a gentle, unhurried approach to children’s dentistry and always go at your child’s pace. We’ll explain everything in a fun and friendly way, keeping the whole experience light-hearted.

If they’re feeling unsure or don’t want to open their mouth, that’s okay. We’ll never force anything, and we’re happy to try again next time. Want to sit on a parent’s lap? No problem!

Let’s keep that Tooth Fairy happy!

Prevention is Key

What we do to protect growing smiles:

  • We create a calm, positive experience so children build trust and don’t develop a phobia

  • We teach brushing techniques in a way they’ll understand
  • We offer diet and lifestyle advice
  • We use fissure sealants and fluoride varnish when needed

What to Expect at Your Child’s Dental Health Exam?

Children’s Dentistry FAQs

As soon as their first teeth appear. You’re welcome to bring them along to your own check-ups as well, so they become accustomed to the environment. We start proper exams from 2+.

Only if they want to. Some prefer sitting on a parent’s lap, or even upright on a normal chair, and that’s totally fine.

That’s less common than you might think, and your child might surprise you! If there are no urgent concerns, we’ll take a gentle approach and simply try again another time.

Absolutely. The longer you can help, the better. As they get older, let them brush first and then do a quick once-over to ensure everything is clean, especially in those hard-to-reach areas.

Not necessarily. Manual or electric are both great as long as their technique is good. Choose whichever your child enjoys using most.
