A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It works by anchoring a false tooth to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. These anchor teeth are usually prepared for crowns or fitted with small metal wings (in a resin-bonded bridge). Bridges are a fixed alternative to dentures and are often a more cost-effective and quicker option than dental implants.

What Are the Benefits of a Dental Bridge?

Dental bridges help to:

  • Fill the gap from missing teeth
  • Fixed in place – unlike dentures

  • Improves chewing and speech
  • Maintains face shape
  • Colour matched to blend with natural teeth
  • More affordable than dental implants

Dental Bridge FAQs

You can also replace missing teeth with a denture or a dental implant.

Regular check-ups and hygiene appointments are important. We’ll show you how to clean around your bridge properly to keep everything healthy.
You should be able to eat most things, but we recommend avoiding very hard foods or biting into apples directly on the bridge area. No opening bottle caps with your teeth either!
No. When placed correctly, bridges look just like your natural teeth and are completely undetectable.
