What to Expect at Your White Filling Appointment?

Local Anaesthetic

We’ll apply a local anaesthetic to ensure your comfort, especially for larger fillings. We may also isolate the tooth with a rubber dam to keep the area dry.

Decay Removal

The damaged part of your tooth is gently removed to prevent further issues.

Tooth Preparation

The area is cleaned, etched, and bonded to help the filling material adhere securely.

Layering & Curing

Composite resin is applied in layers, hardened with a special light after each layer.

Bite Check & Polish

We’ll shape and polish the filling, making sure it feels just right when you bite.

White Filling FAQs

It usually takes around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and location of the filling.

Not always. For smaller fillings, you might not need any numbing. We’ll check with you beforehand, and you can always change your mind during the appointment.

It’s completely up to you. If your metal fillings are still functioning well, they don’t necessarily need replacing. But if they’re showing signs of wear or you’re not happy with how they look, we can replace them with natural tooth-coloured composite.

Your tooth isn’t just one block colour, it has natural layers. We sometimes use a slightly darker shade underneath to mimic the dentine, then a more translucent layer on top to match your enamel. This helps the filling blend in seamlessly.
